[YEONGDONG] — U1 University (President Jung Hyun-yong) announced on the 30th that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Yeongdong-gun at the Yeongdong County Office to promote the local settlement of international students and foster mutual regional development.

The agreement is designed to establish a "virtuous cycle" system—encompassing everything from recruitment and education to employment and permanent settlement. By doing so, both institutions aim to respond to the crisis of regional extinction and inject new vitality into the local community.

Under the terms of the agreement, the two organizations will collaborate on several key initiatives, including:

• Securing dedicated housing for international students.

• Providing administrative support for the Regional Specialized Visa (F-2-R) program.

• Fostering communication and preventing potential conflicts between students and local residents.

• Appointing international students as global honorary ambassadors for the region.

In a practical move to bolster the local economy, U1 University plans to provide seasonal labor through its Department of Smart Agriculture (Smart Farm). In return, Yeongdong-gun will strengthen administrative support to improve living conditions, such as housing and transportation infrastructure.

"We expect this agreement to serve as a catalyst for the stable settlement of international talent and the enhancement of regional competitiveness," said President Jung Hyun-yong.

Yeongdong-gun officials added that they intend to continuously expand cooperation to ensure that international students can successfully integrate and thrive within the community.
